Tetroneaque was feeling quite content at the moment. His belly was full of some of the city's strange, but tasty cuisine and he had managed to find a place similar enough to a forest to be comfortable enough to sleep in. The locals called it a park, but it was rather large. He could still hear all the noises of the city, and the odd scents kept drifting to him, but that simply made him eager to explore some more. Currently he was relaxing up in a tree, having found a nice little nook to curl up in where he wouldn't be easily disturbed. Normally he would have carved himself out a little den, but he didn't feel like it currently. In fact he was contemplating how to get himself a human home to live in. It would be a nice change of pace he figured.
"This place is great! So much to see and do, and so many humans around I could mess with whoever I want and probably never see the same human twice if I so choose! Plus none of those pesky monks with their sealing spells around." Tetroneaque stated in a very happy tone. He took a deep breath, trying to ease his excitement enough so he could get some sleep. It was then that he noticed another scent as the wind shifted. His eyes, which had drifted shut, suddenly shot back open.
Is that a wolf I smell? Why would there be any wolves around here!?! He thought to himself with a bit of alarm. He'd never gotten along with wolves or dogs in the past, cats sure, but never wolves or dogs. He hoped whatever he had scented would simply not catch his own scent and leave him alone. He calmed down a little as he remembered he was up in a tree, and wolves didn't climb trees.
"Probably just imagining it. Too many new scents all mixed together is making me paranoid." He tried to reassure himself, but he knew his scents. There was something that smelled wolf-like around here.

Sahoni walked through the park looking for empty can to recycle. It was tedious, but it gave him enough money to get something to eat if he was lucky. Sahoni sure hoped he was lucky tonight. His stomach was killing him. "Gah, " growled in frustration making him sound like he was having a growling contest with his digestive system. Sahoni picked up the can with a sigh. Hey at least he was helping the environment.
As Sahoni walked under a tree to retrieve a diet coke can he felt a jolt. "My wolfy sense is tingling." he said with a slight muse. With a raise of his eyebrow he went back to work. Then hearing a voice in the back of his head, that familiar voice, he stopped. "Stop! what do you think your doing?" "Trying to get some dinner..." he sighed after looking back and forth to see if there was anyone around. "Your going to eat metal? "[/i] The wolf shook his head "Nevermind that! we'll talk about that later... That jolt means that a supernatural creature is around. You gotta get to work!" the wolf and Sahoni at least were on speaking terms now, they didn't fight as much but they still fought., after all this was Sahoni's body.

Tetroneaque remained in his little hiding spot, unable to shake the feeling that some wolf was on the prowl nearby. He kept catching the scent too, but the more he smelled it the less sure he was that it was an actual wolf. The kitsune tilted his head to one side, trying to ponder out why that might be. His train of thought was derailed however when he heard some footsteps. He went quiet, not wanting to be seen.
Sounds like a human. Smells...sort of humanish...but there's that underlying scent of a wolf. What is this? Tetroneaque wondered to himself as he peeked from his spot among the branches, his eyes seeming like two little green fireflies among the leaves. Tetroneaque didn't want to get this human's attention, if that even was a human down below. To make sure his eyes weren't easy to spot, the kitsune called on a little bit of his fox magic.
Gradually, so as not to cause any concern, the kitsune started creating little illusionary fireflies. The little fake bugs would look, sound, and even feel like the real deal to anyone who was near. Soon the entire area was alive with the illusion of millions of fireflies. Tetroneaque felt a bit safer, knowing his eyes wouldn't be so blatantly obvious now as he continued to watch the being below.

"All right, all right" Sahoni said with a mumble Sahoni looked up at the tree. " Let me see if I can get a better view..." He mumbled reluctantly. To his surprise he saw a tree covered in fireflies. Fireflies? But it's too late in the year for those... he thought to himself. "Never mind wolf I think I found it. Sahoni growled for real now he grabbed a branch and pulled himself up into the tree.
To Sahoni's surprise he came face to face with a many tailed purple furred being. "Is that a...Kitsune?" he said voice edged with excitement. Sahoni had a few favorite myths. Oddly enough one of his happened to kitsune. "Kitsune, Japanese fox spirit, archetype trickster. Kan have up to nine tails demanding on the the myth the tails tell their age or power. Nine tail foxes are called Kyuubi and I've only heard of one of them, the mother of all kitsune the white lady. White ones work for Inari, the god of rice. You are a Kitsune right?" he said practically bouncing in fan-boyish glee.

Tetroneaque was taken aback by the human's agility. He was a bit startled really at how easily the human identified him too. It was then that he realized he'd taken his mask off earlier to get more comfortable. Oh well, too late to lie now. Tetroneaque hopped backwards, further out onto a branch not wanting to be too close to this person.
"Yes I am. You're the first to identify me as such though, so I'm starting to believe my kind are not very common in these parts." He stated, keeping his eyes on the stranger.
"Why do you have two scents? You look human enough, but you don't smell like a normal human." Tetroneaque leaned in closer and got a good look at the boy's eyes.
"Those eyes don't look normal for a human either. Are you some type of Oni or something?" Tetroneaque tilted his head to one side as he continued to look at the human. He had a puzzles expression on his face as he awaited an answer. He wasn't really scared anymore, simply curious now.

Sahoni was loaded with questions. Why was he purple, No myth ever told about purple ones. Did it mean something? Did the tails mean power or age? The questions kept coming and coming. The wolf cleared his throat "Sahoni these...kitsune, are they dangerous?" the wolf asked suspiciously. "Harmless most of the time, " he said wanting to get closer to the fox. "No I think I heard reports of one somewhere in California but your pretty rare around here." He said heart pounding.
That pounding came to a sudden halt as he mentioned his eyes and scent. "I'm no oni, nor am I a yokai. To put it simply I'm part minor Kami. I am a Changer, part of an ancient race that combats demon and evil spirits. We are able to do this do to our souls being fused to a nature kami. Giving me supernatural powers." he said with a sigh. "The thing is I can't control these powers" The wolf-boy sighed and blinked. Why did it always have to come back to that?

Tetroneaque nodded his head, understanding the general idea of what this boy was talking about. It at least made sense now. So his spirit is fused with a wolf spirit. Interesting. I guess he's harmless enough then. He thought to himself and then grinned.
"Can't control your powers eh? That's easy enough to fix. You just need to use your powers more often. Go nuts! Use it whenever an opportunity presents itself. I mean you can't get better at something unless you practice right?" It was a simply enough thing to say, but he spoke from a similar experience. His own magic used to be so difficult to use when he was younger that it was almost laughably bad. Now he could conjure up pretty much any illusion he wished with incredible clarity and ease.
"So what's your name wolf-boy?" Tetroneaque was starting to feel comfortable around this person. Perhaps someone like this human would be fun to have around, or at the very least answer a few questions about this place.

"I guess that makes sense," Sahobi said. For a guy with a genius IQ he could miss the obvious alot. "But what if I hurt someone?" He looked at the creature with wide innocent puppy eyes. "I'd never be able to live with myself, and what about food!? It's gonna take alot of it to keep my energy up to change." Sahoni felt helpless that wasn't a feeling he liked.
Sahoni jumped a little when the fox asked his name. "Careful don't tell him your real name or only tell him part. He is a magical creature and can use it against you as you are one to!" [/i] Sahoni nodded to himself. "I won't tell you my full name, but you can call me Sahoni." Sahoni nodded sort of shyly

"Nice to meet you Sahoni. You can just call me Fox." Tetroneaque said with a wink, sticking his tongue out just a little as if to say 'I know what ya did there with the name thing'. He didn't mind though, but it never hurt to try. It was fun to keep people on their toes.
"As for food... there's plenty of food with this many humans around! Oh such kinds of food too! Just take whatever ya need, I'm sure they won't mind much... as long as they don't see you do it anyway." He added with a light laugh that sounded almost like a bark.
"Then again, it's pretty fun when they chase ya too." He had a sly smile on his face as he spoke.

Sahoni giggled and smiled back.. "Fox , huh?" he smiled at the fox spirit. In his past he use to imagine what it would be like to talk with one. What question to ask. What this kitsune would look like, act like, hell, even smelled like. But strangely all that left his head when he talked to this "Fox"
"Fox thats called stealing, I dunno about kitsune but humans and Changers consider that wrong." It was curious and strange to talk to something so...alien. Sure spirits could really be out there be the at least followed a strict set of laws which defined their existence. "You kitsune are odd, I like that." The wolf boy nodded and laughed a little. "You like the chase huh?"

"Human rules are for humans. Besides, how else would I get food in this place?" He replied offhandedly to the little comment about stealing. It wasn't like he was hurting anyone when he stole. Plus it was fun!
"As for the chase. I guess it depends on my mood. Some people can be just a little too persistent sometimes and it sort of kills the fun. Luckily I have a knack for ending chases before they get tedious." He shrugged as he spoke, easing up around Sahoni. He still kept just out of reach though. He didn't want his tails getting grabbed after all.
"So how do you get food if you don't just sneak away with it?" He asked, wondering how Sahoni would answer... and if he might be able to help Sahoni see things from a new angle.

"I work for it" Sahoni said. "I'm sure stealing requires come amount of effort but if your gonna but forth effort to accomplish something why let it only benefit you?" He said off-handedly. "For example I was collecting cans for money. That give me money for food and it gives money for food and cleans up the environment." he said nodding in a righteous manner.
"There is something I'm curious about, do you mind asking Sahoni?" the wolf asked. "Not at all Wolf, what is it you want to ask?" "What is it like where he came from." Truth be told, Sahoni was curious about it himself. What was it like? How did he get to Jump city? "Mr.Fox, the wolf wanted to know what it was like where you came from." Sahoni said with wide eyes. He was grasping to every word. After all, he might be the first person in hundreds of years if not ever to talk to a Kitsune.

"Work? Bleh! How tedious!" Tetroneaque commented, making a face as if he had just bitten into a very sour lemon. He'd never done a days work in his two-hundred and twenty-four years of living. The thought of it was just rather... repulsive. Plus even if he did want to work, it wasn't like he would blend in all that well. Besides, his skills were all about trickery, deceit, and illusion. He couldn't think of any type of job except thief for those particular skills.
Tetroneaque's ears perked up when Sahoni asked him a question, or rather seemed to be asking a question on behalf of his inner wolf. It was a harmless enough question too, so Tetroneaque decided to answer truthfully.
"Where I came from... well I used to live near this little village near Kyoto. I had this little shrine out in the woods where I lived and the villagers would leave me nice little rice balls or fried tofu thinking to gain my favor. Favor for what I have no idea, cause I don't serve Inari. But it was a pretty nice place with plenty of food so I stayed around. That got a bit boring after awhile, especially when they stopped bringing their offerings. I guess whatever they prayed for didn't happen or something." Tetroneaque stretched lazily as he continued his little story.
"Anyway, it gets kind of lonely out in the woods when no one comes to visit anymore so I started visiting the village itself. First just to get some more of those yummy rice balls and such, then to start playing with the villagers. The kids were fun, until the parents told them not to play with me anymore cause I was supposedly a 'bad fox' and I would 'curse them horribly' which is just a whole lot of nonsense. So I started messing with the grownups to fight my boredom. That went on for a number of years. I think I might have crossed a line when I changed all their well water into sake...but they were so much more fun when they were all drunk!" Tetroneaque giggled happily at that memory. He had thought it a marvelous prank, and the villagers had seemed to enjoy it too!
"After they sobered up though they were kind of mad and wanted to hurt me. None of them were smart enough to ever catch me though, and I was simply happy to have them paying attention to me again. Then some wandering monk had to come along and simply ruin all the fun...the big, lying jerk. He actually sealed my inside a statue! Can you believe that? I never hurt anyone. It was really lonely...and dark...and boring. Anyway, I was in that statue for a really long time. Then the seals weakened, someone cracked the statue, and I escaped about five days ago. Tetroneaque concluded his little tale, staring at Sahoni. He wondered what this Changer thought about all that.

Sahoni laughed at the foxes reaction "Your an odd little guy" he said laughing. "Work isn't that bad, " he said with a wide toothy smile. "I need something to do personally. I hate being bored." he sighed, eyes looking up into the sky.
Sahoni listened intently to the fox's story. He just kept nodding along listening to every word. The kitsune seemed to have a child-like mind. He didn't seem to get what was wrong. it was strange, but exciting. A stranger outside of modern conventions of thinking. From a sociological standpoint this was just amazing. Sahoni still felt bad for the kitsune. "That must have been really boring. I'm sorry for that." he said sincerely .

Tetroneaque grinned widely at Sahoni. He decided he liked the Changer. He seemed to understand things like they should be...except for that work thing, but no one was perfect. Without any warning Tetroneaque sprang at Sahoni, and hugged him. His tails were wagging back and forth quite rapidly.
"I like you. You get me. We can be friends!" He declared, making it quite clear that Sahoni was now a friend of the kitsune whether he liked it or not.
